There is no better place to stop off on your walk along the canal than the picturesque village of Hickling. With the pretty basin opposite enjoy a drink either inside or outside the historic Plough Inn while you watch the fishermen, wild ducks and swans around the basin.
We look forward to meeting you.
Four Pubs used to service Hickling locals and thirsty navvies who used the canal  which winds its way passed the Plough Inn - The Navigator, The Wheel and Old Bowling Green all long since gone but the Plough survives and is a quaint pub which, after it's recent refurbishment and newly added restaurant area is worth going out of your way to visit.

The Plough Inn continues to offer that real traditional feel of a country pub, with separate rooms to suit all tastes.

The recently refurbished and stylish downstairs bar still has it's feature bar and wooden floors and retains its traditional character, a great place to enjoy a drink.

The restaurant is next to the downstairs bar and all but separate from the drinking areas of the pub. The restaurant has recently been refurnished to provide high quality and comfortable seating with window tables looking over the gardens to the rear please phone to check on availability.

Dogs and children are welcome at the Plough.

The Plough still has its traditional Snug, a small cosy room with an open fire in winter for those who want a drink on their own or which can be hired for private dining parties. A newly created seating area in the lower floor offers comfy leather couches to enjoy a relaxing drink.

The bigger room upstairs provides a variety of seating areas and it is a favourite place for locals to come for a chat or have a game of darts. In winter you'll also appreciate the open fires, whilst real ale fans will be heartened by the row of traditional hand pumps along the bar.

At the rear of the pub there is a large car park, beer garden and a recent addition of a large covered smoking area.

Save this site and review regularly for updates, further improvements and facilities are planned and will be announced when available.
